“Dance is the hidden language of soul” Bharatanatyam is the dance that encompasses music, rhythm and expressional dance or Abhinaya and strictly adheres to the Natyashastra. Bha from Bhava meaning emotion, Ra from Raaga meaning music or melody, Ta from Taala meaning rhythm and Natyam meaning dance. It is one beautiful Art and also improves the human body and maintains a healthy shape and perfect structure. We give this opportunity to our children in order to let them grow-up with a beautiful passion. “Yoga is the golden key that unlocks the door to peace, tranquility and joy.” Yoga, from Sanskrit “Union”, means union between body, mind and soul. Yoga is a wonderful gift for the humanity from the ancient India. We offer this course to our children because starting the path of Yoga in early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness. Children can have enormous benefits from yoga practice: physically they can experience strength, flexibility and coordination; mentally they develop concentration, stillness and relaxation. The yoga can allow them to experience a big connection with their inner self. Yoga is practiced by children who live in our homes 2 times per week. They are very proud of their asanas and yoga practice. “I’m not teaching you how to fight. I’m teaching you how to control Evil. That’s what we are really doing here.” Karate is one of the most famous martial art worldwide. The focus of karate, such as other martial arts, is a self-defence practice that helps in self-esteem, coordination and inner balance. Furthermore Karate helps in self-discovery, channelizing the energy in the right way for self-confidence and self-control. Many children in our homes really like Karate, they can practice it twice per week after school. “People ask me if I could fly, I said ‘yeah.. for a little while’ ” Basketball is a great team game, that teach to children the importance of the team to reach a goal. In basketball most of the parts of the body are used, from legs to arms, but it is not only a physical game: when the level is higher it becomes a very clever game, and mind is very important to reach the goal. The team of basketball at TDH CORE is composed by only girls. All the girls are very enthusiastic about their team, they love to play and they spend 7 days per weeks having basketball training after school. “I learned all about life with a ball at my feet.” After eight hours continues classes and being seated in chair for a long while, children can relax and refresh physically and mentally playing football, so this is one of the favorite game for our children. In football the goal of one child is belonging to the entire team: in this sense it reflects and develops the concept of team building for our children. The Italian coach, Mr. Fabrizio, is taking care to make the children become little champions. There is a Girls team and a Boys team. Each team can play for one hour, 7 days per week. For girls is also very important and challenging to develop their own physical skills through a sport like football. “It’s not the team with the best players that win, it’s the players with the best team that wins.” For children, Volleyball enhances the energy level and improves physical performances. It is very good to develop hand-eye coordination: during the game the must is to follow the ball with eyes, and strike the ball at the right point. It also builds agility, coordination, speed, and balance. 5 days per week children of our homes can play Volleyball: they love to practice it! “All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once you grow up.” One of the most important activity that we offer for children in homes in order to develop their creativity is drawing class. Drawing allow the right part of the brain to flow and improve their creativity capacity. As Pablo Picasso said “It took me four years to paint like Raphael, but a lifetime to paint like a child”. Drawing class is an art that comes from the soul and help the connection between brain, heart, eyes, hands and the entire body. We offer drawing class each Sunday for our children in homes. “If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need.” In our children library we have any kind of interesting books like stories – in both English and Tamil languages – buzzle books, computerized e-books and peaceful session inside the library.Special activities for children in Homes
