Kids Home offers them shelter and protection, which means a safe place to stay: with trained figures who take care of them, a welcoming environment and a place where they can play together. The problem of begging children in Tiruvannamalai

Child begging is a widespread issue in the area of Tiruvannamalai in the state of Tamil Nadu, and Terre des Hommes CORE is having a leading role in the fight against this terrible phenomena. Child Begging hurts the psychological wellbeing and stability of many kids.

How painful can be for them to be forced to do something non-natural, something against their dignity? How easy can it be for them to transfer all the cruelty and the sufferings they lived, to the future generations?

Child beggars suffer tremendously, they can be victims of psychological instability, their identity can be damaged forever and the process of rehabilitation is very hard. We must re-give them their childhood, of which they were subtracted.

From child beggars to happy children: the story of Bhavani and Devi

Help Children India

Bhavani and Devi are 2 out of a family of 10. They were child beggars, living in the street. Usually, a child beggar is forced every day to complain, laying on the street to attract the attention of the passers-by. Very often children in these situations are physically abused to attract the sympathy of the commuters.

The physical and moral abuse that the two sisters suffered was visible in their eyes, movements, words, actions. In the beginning, Devi and Bhavani showed a lot of aggressiveness, mistrust, fear, strong signs of depression and weird behaviour.

But day after day, their scared faces transformed into smiling and happy ones.
